The Valley Flight: £135
A twenty-minute introductory flight over the Severn Valley in a vintage bi-plane designed in the 1930’s, the era of the Tiger Moth. After a short briefing, you don Sheepskin Flying Jacket, Leather Helmet and, of course, White Silk Scarf; then up into the wild blue yonder. Once airborne your instructor will show you how to control the ‘plane, then give you the opportunity to handle the controls yourself – an experience never to be forgotten.
The Cotswold Experience: £175
A thirty-minute flight, giving time to explore the beautiful Cotswold scenery from the air. After the introductory briefing, you are kitted out like a real 1930’s Tiger Moth Pilot, then up, up and away. Your instructor will show you how to fly the plane and then give you the chance to try it for yourself. If you are feeling adventurous, there is even time to view the World turned upside-down in some aerobatic manoeuvres like a loop or a victory roll (but it’s not compulsory, you can stay right-side up all the time if you wish).
The Full Hour of Flight: £295
A whole hour of flying in a vintage bi-plane, you can learn a lot in that time. RAF student pilots in the 30’s and 40’s were expected to be able to fly solo after less than 10 hours of instruction; one hour could get you 10% of the way there. Lots of time to practice handling the aircraft whilst navigating over the Cotswolds and Severn Estuary or the Malvern Hills, and still time left over for some aerobatics, or you can just relax and get used to the sensation of flying as it was over seventy years ago.
